ON TREND: Translating Coachella Fashions into Event Design

ON TREND: GETTING HAUTE IN THE DESERT

Thousands of music lovers from have spent the past two weekends deep in the Californian desert for one of the year’s hottest parties – the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Beyond the music festival, Coachella has increasingly grown to provide an experience that foodies, fashionistas and art-aficionados adore. From hot dog trucks to gourmet five-star meals, any type of cuisine can be enjoyed in between musical performances.   Art installations decorate the entire valley, and geoconscious efforts are made to reduce the waste produced from the event. This hot event attracts various celebrities to attend while sporting their best desert-friendly fashions, making this event the place to be seen. Ultimately, beyond a fun music festival and a rocking party, Coachella provides a platform for the building of brands for companies and individuals alike. Need to be inspired? Just take a look at Coachella 2017.

GET CREATIVE: TRANSLATE COACHELLA FASHION TRENDS TO BE USED IN YOUR EVENT DESIGN

Every year, we cannot wait for the Instagram posts and fashion recaps of the styles that our favorite celebrities pulled together for their Coachella experience. These ensembles typically would not be seen in normal day-to-day wear, but uniquely fit the setting of the desert festival appropriately. These fashion-forward combinations provide the perfect departure point for intriguing event design. Check out three of our favorite style moments from Coachella 2017 below, and learn how you can use these looks as inspiration for your events!

CLASSY DESERT COWGIRL

One of the hottest looks at this year was Kendall Jenner’s ensemble. Seen lounging around the Bumble tent, designed by our talented dear friends at Kristin Banta Events, this unusual pairing of preppy stripes, sequins and even a little “yee-haw” cowboy hat created a look that was oh so chic! We love crimson red lips, and the bling choker which pulled the look together and created a seriously striking look for this celeb. In event design, why not consider incorporating preppy tweeds, sequins, velvets and even a pop of unexpected color? We are ALL IN on this look!

MIXIN’ PASTEL PATTERNS

Unicorns seem to be all the rage! From the new drink at Starbucks to Coachella fashion, these fantastical dreamy colors seem to say it all! The combos of paisleys, pailletes and patterns were everywhere at this festival and we are lovin’ the look.  When working on décor, consider adding big florals to intricate patterns to create an energy that seems to bounce off the fabrics and create magic in the room.  The mix-n-match theme can create a fun vibe for your summer event!

‘PHRESH OUT THE RUNWAY’

To say that Gucci has been having a moment is an understatement. In our opinion, Gucci has been having a moment for a lot longer than a minute, and we could not be happier. Rihanna stayed true to her roots at Coachella this year by sporting a full Gucci ensemble that was identical to what was seen on the Fall 2017 runway.   In our books Gucci has been masterful in their efforts to transform a classic brand into something current, hip and fashion-forward. In event design we constantly look to merge classic with modern touches to create décor that is both memorable and original.
