ON TREND IN 2018: DABBLE IN DISTRESSED

ON TREND: EVENT DESIGN TAKES ON DISTRESSED FABRICS

Shabby chic trends first became popular when clients achieved all the “wow” by putting burlap tablecloths next to shimmering crystal chandeliers. Since then, the trend has evolved and come a long way! Today many more distressed fabrics are available in the industry, and at Mosaic, we are loving these slightly tattered fabrics. We are still coupling them with fancy décor components- and in so doing create some seriously striking looks in table design.

OUR INTERPRETATION: MOSAIC OFFERS NEW DISTRESSED TEXTILES IN ’18

As we were curating our Spring/Summer 2018 collections, we added some fabulous new fabrics that have a slightly worn, threadbare feeling to them. Some are printed on cotton. Some are woven into jacquards. And, others are stamped into velvet. Colors range from soft heirloom neutrals to big bold hues, providing a huge array of options for those searching for ways to use distressed tablecloths in event design. Whether planning an event in a rustic venue or looking for a way to balance a grand extravagantly decorated ballroom with some earthly details, distressed fabrics can help add interest to your event design.

GET CREATIVE: 3 WAYS TO DESIGN USING DISTRESSED FABRICS

While Mosaic has always carried roughhewn tablecloths such as our ever-popular panama line, we are helping clients in all parts of the country use new distressed lines to develop some fabulous looks. Of course, organic green tones lend themselves to down to earth looks, and will look incredible when utilizing green distressed fabric. However, crisp white velvets stamped with silver and gold florals can look incredibly cool and sophisticated this season. We also bought into lines that utilize bold colors such as violet, yellow and bronze as a foundation for distressed fabric treatment. And with the talent in our community, we cannot wait to see how these fabrics will come to life in event design this year.

Murky Moss

We certainly love distressed fabrics in earthy shades of green. It is so easy to imagine how our new Moss Bark cloth could look gorgeous with cascading greens, Spanish moss or orchids. Adding pops or earthy colors like burnt orange can add contrast and really bring these distressed green tonal fabrics to life. When planning a soiree with an enchanted garden or tropical vibe, adding distressed earthly fabrics are a must!

Shabby Chic Slate

This past year, velvets have been everything. So, when we went to market and found this ivory opulent velvet stamped with silver and gold patterning, we went nuts. Elegant, sophisticated and divine, this fabric can look gorgeous in a monochromatic palette. But we can also envision pairing it with rustic colors like sky blue to create some heavenly looks.

Vintage Violet

Our Parchment line has always been popular with clients both in the social and corporate worlds. This year with the Pantone Color of The Year, Ultra Violet, we are seeing clients incorporate all shades of purple into event design. We were so thrilled to learn that Violet Parchment was now available, and we have already seen some gorgeous applications of use. This fabric is both elegant and rustic. It reads as an organic but with delicate veins of metallic color weaving through the fabric, can also be used at the most formal of affairs. Taking distressed to a new level, Violet Parchment is now a new staff fav!
