Mosaic Gives Back: EPTA Heads to New Orleans

Mosaic is always proud to connect to community. Giving back is a great way to invest in future generations, and to help those in need.  When Mosaic’s owner, Susie Perelman, co-founded Event Pros Take Action 8 years ago with Larry Green, none of us in the event industry knew how valuable this organization would become. Through the shared experiences created by EPTA in New Orleans, Rockaway, NY and San Marcos, Texas, many incredible bonds have been formed between individuals and companies that traveled from all over the USA to join in the ‘give back’. The good work being done by this organization has also helped many communities along the way that have experienced environmental catastrophe and are in the process of rebuilding. Mosaic recently was on hand in New Orleans as EPTA worked with SBP for the 7th year in a row. In addition we worked with troubled youth at Liberty’s Kitchen and Covenant House New Orleans while there.

While working with SBP, we painted, we did demolition work, and put the finishing touches on the home of our new friend, Mr. King. TK has waited 12 long years to move back into the home where he was raised, and where he raised his 9 children. It was a special, emotional day – and there was not a dry eye in the crowd at his ribbon cutting ceremony.

At Liberty’s Kitchen, we mentored teens who are trying to find a career path in hospitality. Mosaic’s branding and marketing manager taught sessions about branding and social media.  On our last day, we ran our annual  ‘Cov Carnival’ for the Covenant House NOLA community. This day provided an afternoon of fun and games.  It is our hope that the happy day will help provide the kids with memories that they can call upon to propel them up when they encounter obstacles along their way in the upcoming year.  We danced, we laughed and we shared a meaningful experience with kids who have endured so much over the years. We returned home enriched by the  incredible memories and profound friendships that have been built through the good work we did with EPTA this year in NOLA.
